As you may or may not know, over time, calcium levels in your pool accumulate, and the water becomes "harder"
This is something that you may not feel directly, but your pool, your pocket and your health do feel it and suffer. Calcium in the water acts like a "sponge", it absorbs much of the chlorine you add to the water, so it cannot properly do its job to sanitize your pool water. So each time you have to add much more chlorine and you don't achieve the same effect you want. The same goes for other chemicals you add to your pool water. You simply have to add more and more each time because calcium obstructs their performance your pool gets increasingly loaded with chemicals. Also calcium builds-up in your pool's tiles and interior finish, degrading their appearance. And with time, calcium deposits become harder and harder to remove. Calcium affects your pool pump, filters and heater as well, rendering them inefficient and even causing obstruction and malfunction that will end up costing you money and time.
